From the University of Ottawa Football Field to Your Recovery
Hello! My name is Dr. Abed Hamidi. I was born and raised in Ottawa. I received my Bachelor’s in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and my Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.
I played football in Ottawa throughout my childhood and into my young adult years—from minor club leagues at age ten to the collegiate level at the University of Ottawa.
This is where I found my passion for rehabilitation and healthcare.
Through many injuries and surgeries during my time as an athlete, I understand the value of staying on top of your own health. I am very passionate about helping people return to their daily routines and get back to the activities that matter to them through chiropractic care.
I am eager to support the community where I grew up and help its members achieve their personal health goals.
Dr. Abed Hamidi is a licensed chiropractor at the CCO.

Whether that means lowering your pain levels, increasing physical activity, providing education on mobility and posture, or improving your overall quality of life—I will take the time to educate you on your specific condition. When you leave the clinic, you’ll understand what it takes to manage your symptoms on your own.
As a chiropractor, my main mission is to help you reach your goals through evidence-based treatments and recommendations.
I use chiropractic adjustments to restore motion in joints that are not moving properly.
When joint movement is restricted, it places extra stress on surrounding muscles and tissues. This can interfere with how your body functions. By improving joint mobility, adjustments help your body move more efficiently, reduce strain, and support better overall function.
I often combine adjustments with soft tissue work and exercise. This approach helps maintain improvements and promotes long-term results.
Research supports this approach. A clinical practice guideline published in the Annals of Internal Medicine recommends non-pharmacologic treatments—including spinal manipulation—as a first-line option for low back pain.
I grew up in Ottawa. I played football here, got injured here, and went through the rehab process myself. That experience taught me what patients actually need — someone who takes the time to explain what’s wrong and gives them the tools to manage it on their own.
At Kent Chiro-Med, we all share that mindset. We don’t rush appointments. We don’t take shortcuts. We treat every patient the way we’d want to be treated ourselves.
Although my athlete days are behind me, I’m still a young kid at heart who loves to play sports. You can catch me on tennis, pickleball, basketball, or volleyball courts around the city. I also love watching NFL games and am an avid fantasy football general manager. (I’m always up for hearing your fantasy football stories and trades from your leagues!)
I also enjoy experimenting with cooking, checking out food spots around Ottawa, and travelling to new places.
“I look forward to meeting and working with you to achieve your goals.”
Akash is a former football player and current amateur boxer who came to me with severe shin splints. The pain was so bad that just standing up would hurt. Any movement sent shooting pain from his shin down into his foot.
I identified the root cause quickly and treated him with shockwave therapy over 4 sessions. I also gave him specific exercises and guidance on what to avoid during recovery.
Today, Akash is back in the ring boxing at 100%. In his own words:
Shin splints don't mean you have to stop forever. They're a signal to slow down, focus on recovery, and come back stronger.
Dibyendu was in a car accident in early 2025. He suffered a concussion along with low back, knee, and shoulder injuries. The pain was so severe he couldn’t work or concentrate.
After several months of care, Dibyendu is almost back to doing everything he was doing before his injury. Beyond the physical improvements, he says the treatment gave him positive energy and motivation during a difficult time.
The result is very, very good... not only for the physical, also the behaviour and energy level. It gives me very good motivation and positive energy.
I treated a professional boxer who was dealing with ongoing joint stiffness and soft tissue strain. These issues were limiting his ability to train at full intensity.
Through a combination of chiropractic adjustments to restore joint motion, targeted soft tissue release, shockwave therapy, and cupping, his mobility improved significantly. His recovery time between training sessions got faster.
This allowed him to return to full training and continue performing at a high professional level.
