OTTAWA LOCAL GUIDE · 2026

11 Ottawa Yoga Studios and Classes to Know in 2026

Find a class you can get to, enjoy and afford to keep attending. Compare the locations, heat and teaching styles before choosing your first session.

By Ghaith Dhaidan · Updated September 2026

Yoga studios Ottawa

Originally published in 2023; substantially updated in September 2026. We revisited the eight places in the original guide and added Modo Yoga Orléans, Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Bank Street and DOWNdog in Manor Park.

Start with the location, then think about heat, class pace and the kind of help you want from a teacher. For a first class, look at the beginner options at Elevate, Yogatown, PranaShanti or SoulSpeak. If you want heat, compare Pure, Modo and SoulSpeak; Oxygen adds more fitness classes to the mix.

DOWNdog is the small-group option, while Michael Dynie teaches online and at several studios. MOVATI makes sense if you also want a gym membership.

Trying several class styles

Elevate Yoga

Elgin Street · Heated + room temperature

Elevate is worth a look if Elgin Street is easy for you to reach and you want to try a few styles before buying a longer pass. It has heated and room-temperature classes, but the pace and heat depend on the session. Book ahead and plan to arrive about 15 minutes early, as the studio requests. If you are new, pick a beginner-friendly class and mention any movement limits to the teacher.

The live schedule is the place to compare classes, teachers and open spots. Class names and times change, so use it instead of an old program list.

Before you go

Location: 298 Elgin Street, second floor, Ottawa. Phone: 613-237-7447. Studio website.

Elevate advertises a New Yogi pass alongside other options. Check the current prices and terms. A drop-in or short pass gives you room to try different classes first.

Ashtanga and Mysore practice

Astanga Yoga Ottawa

Bank Street · Ashtanga + Mysore

Go to Astanga if you want to learn one method in depth. The studio advertises beginner Morning Mysore classes and teacher training. If you would rather move between gentle, restorative and faster classes, a studio with a broader timetable may suit you better.

Ashtanga follows a set sequence of postures and breath. In a Mysore-style class, you work through that sequence at your own pace while a teacher helps you individually. You do not need to memorize it before your first class; ask how beginners get started.

Check the current schedule for Morning Mysore, led classes and beginner sessions. The pace and amount of individual help depend on which format you choose.

Location: 200 Bank Street, Ottawa. Studio website.

The price list showed a $60 introductory month when we updated this guide, plus monthly plans and class packs. Read the renewal terms and any minimum commitment before signing up.

Choosing between three locations

Yogatown

Preston · Stittsville · Barrhaven · Varies by class

Yogatown has studios on Preston Street, in Stittsville and in Barrhaven. That choice helps if your schedule changes during the week, but the classes and temperatures are not identical at every location. Its YouTube channel lets you sample the teaching style before you visit. Use the live timetable for the class you actually plan to book.

Yin yoga is slower than a flow class, with supported poses held for longer. Slow does not always mean comfortable, though. If a position bothers you, ask the teacher for props or a different version.

The schedule includes flow, Yin and community classes. If you want an unheated room, check the temperature on the booking page for that specific class.

Before you go

Locations: 300 Preston Street; 1300 Stittsville Main Street; 34 Highbury Park Drive, Unit 7, Barrhaven. Studio website.

At the time of this update, Yogatown’s pricing page listed a $32 drop-in, a $250 ten-class pack and a $6 community flow. Intro offers and memberships may change. Check which classes and locations each pass covers.

A dedicated heated-yoga studio

Pure Yoga

Centretown · Westboro · Heated, about 32°C

Pure has studios in Centretown and Westboro and a mix of class styles, all in heated rooms. Choose the location you can get to regularly, then find a class whose pace suits you. The studio also runs retreats and special events, but the weekly timetable is what matters most if you are choosing a regular practice.

Pure says its classes are heated to about 32°C. If you are unsure how that feels, try one class before buying a pass. Bring water, and check the class description for its pace as well as its temperature.

Browse the schedule by location and class style. If this is your first heated class, ask the studio which session it recommends.

Before you go

Locations: 359 Bank Street, Centretown; 279 Richmond Road, Westboro. Studio locations.

The pricing page listed a $75 introductory month and a $32 drop-in when we checked. Pure’s FAQ gives an eight-hour cancellation window. Read the latest terms, including any late-cancel fee, before booking.

Classes, meditation and workshops

PranaShanti

Gladstone Avenue · Yoga, meditation + workshops

PranaShanti runs in-person and livestream classes, workshops and training from its Gladstone centre. There are slower practices and meditation alongside yoga. Google Maps photos show the current storefront, while recent reviews mention the atmosphere and class variety. Those reviews are individual experiences, so judge the fit by trying a class yourself.

With a schedule this broad, the simplest first step is to ask for a gentle, beginner or foundational class. Ask how fast it moves and whether the room is heated. Arrive early enough to discuss modifications with the teacher.

See the current class options. Parking is limited before 5 p.m. on weekdays, according to the studio’s contact page; there is more access in the evenings and on weekends. Check the details before you go.

Before you go

Location: 950 Gladstone Avenue, Ottawa. Phone: 613-761-9642. Visit information.

The fees page showed a $70 thirty-day intro offer when we updated this guide, along with drop-in and membership options. Make sure the pass covers in-person or livestream classes, whichever you plan to use.

Following one teacher in several formats

Michael Dynie Yoga

Online + Ottawa studios · Livestream + partner studios

Michael Dynie teaches across formats rather than running a single studio. His schedule includes livestream classes and in-person sessions at Astanga Yoga Ottawa, Pure Yoga and DOWNdog. You can follow the same teacher at home and in Ottawa, but check the venue and booking link for each class.

His schedule lists Hatha and Ashtanga-inspired classes as well as livestream sessions. The website links to a video library and YouTube channel if you want to see his teaching pace before subscribing.

Before you go

Format: livestream, on-demand video and classes at other Ottawa studios. Current teaching schedule.

The schedule advertised a $30 monthly online membership with livestreams and replays when we checked. Read the latest terms. A partner studio may charge separately for an in-person class.

Combining yoga with a gym membership

MOVATI Athletic

Multiple Ottawa-area clubs · Yoga + gym membership

MOVATI is a gym with yoga on the timetable, not a dedicated yoga studio. It makes more sense if you also want strength training, swimming or other group classes. Start with the club you would actually use: yoga schedules differ by location.

Use the yoga schedule and club pages to check classes and facilities at your chosen location. A class offered at one club may not run at another.

Before you go

Locations: multiple Ottawa-area clubs, including Kanata. Find your club.

MOVATI’s fees and terms vary by club and plan. Ask for a written quote and confirm that it includes the yoga classes you want. We have left out an older enrollment-fee claim because it described a promotion that may no longer apply.

Yoga, Pilates and fitness

SoulSpeak

Old Ottawa South · Wellington West · Mostly warm or hot

SoulSpeak mixes yoga with Pilates and fitness. According to its FAQ, most classes are heated, though a few are not. It describes “warm” as roughly 25 to 28°C and “hot” as 30°C or more. If you like a warm room, you can compare a gentle Yin class with a more active flow.

The studio FAQ points beginners to Soul Blend, SLOW Flow and Soul Yin. Book online: the studio says it does not take walk-ins. Newcomers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Check the location on your confirmation before leaving home.

Before you go

Locations: Old Ottawa South on Bank Street and 1226 Wellington Street West. Confirm the Bank Street street number on the current location page before visiting; different studio pages list 1178 and 1179. Studio website.

See the current passes rather than old online-only prices. The FAQ explains intro passes, class packs and memberships, including auto-renewal and cancellation notice for some plans.

Hot yoga in the east end

Modo Yoga Orléans

Orléans · Hot; some cooler options

For east-end hot yoga, Modo has several formats: Modo, flow, warm Yin, Hatha, and some warm or unheated mat Pilates. The studio says many hot classes are around 38°C, but the temperature depends on the class. Read the description before booking, especially if you are new to exercising in heat.

Before you go

Location: 2442 St. Joseph Boulevard, second floor, Orléans. See the studio’s contact and parking details.

The site lists a two-week intro pass and a Wednesday $10 community class. Check the current plans and class types for times and eligibility. The second-floor location and heat are worth considering before your first visit.

Yoga with fitness-focused classes

Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Bank Street

Bank Street · Far-infrared heat

Oxygen mixes yoga with Pilates, barre, strength and sculpt classes. Its Bank Street studio describes a darkened room, music and far-infrared heat. If you are after a quiet, traditional yoga class, read the class descriptions carefully; some sessions lean more toward fitness.

Before you go

Location: 1050 Bank Street, Ottawa. See the studio page.

The site advertises a ten-day intro offer, though promotions and local rules can change. Before buying, check the class length and intensity, how long the pass lasts, and the cancellation policy. The heat matters too, even if a class name sounds gentle.

A smaller Hatha class

DOWNdog Yoga Studio

Manor Park · Small-group Hatha

DOWNdog is smaller than the large hot-yoga studios on this list. Its site describes Hatha classes taught by Roxanne Joly and Michael Dynie, with gentle and more active options. A 2026 studio update mentioned a nine-person class and limited spaces. That gives a sense of the scale, though it does not guarantee a spot now.

Before you go

Area: Manor Park, Ottawa. See the studio website.

Schedules may be seasonal and classes can fill. Ask for the current address, dates, price and drop-in availability before travelling. The intermediate Hatha class calls for more strength and flexibility than the gentle one, so check which level suits you.

How to compare value

A cheap monthly rate can cost more than a class pack if you rarely make it to class. Work out how often you will realistically go. Then compare the commute, class length, heat, cancellation rules and whether one pass works at more than one location. A drop-in, intro pass or community class is an easier way to test a studio before taking on an auto-renewing plan.

Which Ottawa yoga option should you try first?

Start with a class you can reach regularly. Astanga suits someone who wants to learn Ashtanga; Yogatown and PranaShanti have broader timetables. Pure, SoulSpeak and Modo are the hot-yoga choices. Oxygen and MOVATI bring in more fitness, while DOWNdog and Michael Dynie offer smaller-group or at-home options. If you are undecided, try a few teachers and class styles with a drop-in, intro pass or community class before committing to a membership.

How we updated this guide: Studio websites supplied addresses, class formats and pass terms in September 2026. We also checked Google Maps listings and a local Reddit discussion for questions people ask when choosing a class. Reviews and social posts are personal accounts that can go stale. Confirm hours, accessibility, prices and open spots with the studio. The Yogatown YouTube channel and PranaShanti tour can show you a little more before you go, but use current schedules to book.

We have not personally tried or ranked every class. Prices, teachers and timetables change, so confirm them before you book.

Yoga can be adapted for many bodies. Talk to the instructor about modifications, and seek medical advice for a specific health concern.

Your first yoga class: a quick checklist

Four things to sort out before you head to the studio.

1. Book your spot

Check the class level, room temperature and cancellation terms before reserving.

2. Pack the basics

Bring a mat, water and comfortable clothes. Ask about mat rentals; pack a towel for a heated class.

3. Plan your arrival

Check the address and parking. Follow the studio’s arrival instructions so you have time to settle in.

4. Talk to the teacher

Say it is your first class and mention any movement limits. Ask about props or another version of a pose.

Frequently asked questions

No. Start with a beginner or gentle class, tell the teacher you are new, and ask for another version of a pose when you need one. If you have an injury or medical condition, get advice specific to you before joining.

Bring a mat, water and clothes you can move in. For a heated class, you may also want a towel and a change of clothes. Ask the studio about mat rentals, when to arrive and whether you need to book ahead.

No. Pure says all its classes are heated; other studios on this list have both heated and room-temperature options. Check the temperature for the class you choose. A class called “gentle” can still be heated.

Choose a beginner class you can get to regularly, with a teacher who explains the moves and a pass that does not lock you into a long commitment. PranaShanti and SoulSpeak publish beginner guidance. Modo Orléans lists an introductory pass.

Count the classes you can realistically attend before comparing memberships with packs or drop-ins. When we updated this guide, Yogatown listed a $6 community flow and Modo Orléans listed a $10 community class. Check the latest timetable and eligibility rules before booking.
